I speak English fluently. I took three years of French in high school, but I'm a little rusty in it now. I love any practice I can get. My paternal grandparents were first generation Czech/Hungarian-Americans and spoke Czech and Hungarian. I know basic words, dates, places, and the Catholic Mass.. but I'm not religious at all.
I took Spanish 1 and 2 in college, but I'm barely coherent in it. My boyfriend and his family are Mexican and speak Spanish regularly, so hopefully when I move out there with him, I'll become fluent. It would be a sad day to have children who speak Spanish and In-Laws that speak Spanish that I can't converse with.
When I was working, I needed to be functional in a bunch of languages. Luckily, the primary ones were English, French, Spanish, Czech and Hungarian -- all of which I'm familiar with. I also needed to learn Arabic dates, times, places and common phrases. I can also read Chinese dates, times and places, but those are a bit rusty.
