Very good looking bird indeed ! There is confusion with the male Eclectus from what I've seen. It's true they have similarities (physically).

I've pulled this way off topic, apologies!

I'm only really good at English. I lived in Spain for a couple of years and my Spanish is effective but not what you'd call correct and my vocabulary is limited -- I can discourse at length about horses as I rode there and few at the barn spoke English. A little about UFOs (OMNIs in Spain) and anything you need for basic shopping and such. Although I'm rusty now.

I took German in high school and college and could probably brush it up. I have a German FB friend so I get a little practice. I also took a little French and Russian in college. I studied Hebrew for a year, but I can't even sound things out very well let alone speak the language. I've learned a tiny bit of spoken Dutch, Greek and Japanese for travel. That's it!

Up until I was living in Spain, I tended to feel that the languages were sort of like magical incantations, I had no feeling of connection to the things I'd learned. But there was a point after I'd been there a few months when I was driving to the store from work and I was thinking about my shopping list in Spanish. After that, I felt I could speak the language badly rather than feeling I was making learned sounds that might or might not have the desired effect.

I wonder how parrots feel?

I speak English fluently. I took three years of French in high school, but I'm a little rusty in it now. I love any practice I can get. My paternal grandparents were first generation Czech/Hungarian-Americans and spoke Czech and Hungarian. I know basic words, dates, places, and the Catholic Mass.. but I'm not religious at all.

I took Spanish 1 and 2 in college, but I'm barely coherent in it. My boyfriend and his family are Mexican and speak Spanish regularly, so hopefully when I move out there with him, I'll become fluent. It would be a sad day to have children who speak Spanish and In-Laws that speak Spanish that I can't converse with.

When I was working, I needed to be functional in a bunch of languages. Luckily, the primary ones were English, French, Spanish, Czech and Hungarian -- all of which I'm familiar with. I also needed to learn Arabic dates, times, places and common phrases. I can also read Chinese dates, times and places, but those are a bit rusty.

Hi, We are currently living in Arizona and are moving to Ontario Canada in a few weeks. We have a Congo African Grey which we have had for four years, since she was weaned. We are having one helluva time trying to gain permission to export her from US Game & Fish authorities here in the states. The Canadian rules are very simple but require the permit from Game & Fish. Anyway, I called G&F and was told that it could take up to 8 months to get a permit and that if we show up at the border (US side) to export her without a permit, that they would confiscate and euthanize her. I was totally floored!!! Being we do not have 8 months, we don't know what to do. I cannot believe that that is their policy but I asked twice. Has anyone been through this kind of thing before? Before we contacted G&F we got about 100 different stories but no one that had actually done it. Again, the unusual thing is that Canada just needs the export permit from G&F and a letter of health from a Vet. It's the US side that is being ridiculous!!!! Please help!!!! We love our Greysea and would hate to have to part with her ( of course try to find someone that would care for her) but we will be darned if we are going to let anyone euthanize this gorgeous, wonderful bird!!!
