Yep! My kids are 14, 19, and 21. (And I was NOT a teen when I had any of them!)

I say go for it with the carob cake, you'll have to let me know how that goes! Lol! The only things my family is confident in now are chocolate and ice cream. Tho, the birds have been trying to get into the ice-cream bowls lately, so I may have to come up with a recipe for them too. :)

I've given Cheney Bird a tiny bit of ice cream. He seems to love it and I give him the fruit flavors. I think it was Breyer's who made an awesome mango flavored ice cream.

I just view it as if it's yogurt and only give him a little. It won't hurt him in small doses. And generally he gets the low fat, low sugar kind.

I have definitely become a bird person. I'm in the process of making arrangements to send my horse across the country to a friend who will be able to enjoy him for a while and retire him when he's no longer sound enough to ride. With both my husband's and my job situations uncertain for some years to come, we're battening down the financial hatches, and the money that goes to support a horse boarded out and in training would buy a bird cage a month... if I'm not to be a horse person anymore, must be I've become a crazy bird lady...

It is true that the birds fill a lot of that part of my life now, anyway. Although, in a bizarre reversal of roles, with the birds I'm much more about hanging out with them and appreciating them for what they are -- with the horses I've always been all business, about the training, about the competing, about accomplishing stuff... not just hanging out.

Entranced - You need to potty train your horse and move him in the house.

I have no idea if that pic's photoshopped. I saw a video once where someone had a full size horse that they let in the house and took on car rides. It even went to the fridge and got the guy a beer. Mind boggling.

Avatar's a rare squirrel bird. Actually, it's a baby squirrel I found a couple of years ago after a cold snap. I thought it was dead. Turns out he still had a slight heartbeat so I took him in, put him on heat, fed him up for a couple of days and then sent him on his merry way. Of course, had to take some pics before letting him go.

Rare squirrel bird! Seriously though, it's amazingly cute!

I know where you're commin' from sister. Been there, done that. Saved the receipts so I wouldn't do it again!

I wasn't as involved in the business end as my parents were, but the rest? Oh yeah. And I don't think horses are as easy as birds to just "hang out with," ya know?

All of the cages I have are from Kings Cages. They make awesome, sturdy, easy to assembly (and easy to disassemble) cages that aren't hugely expensive. They are always happy to answer questions when you call and will work with you to decide what you need.

That's the fun thing about threads, it's a great surprise seeing how they unravel sometimes! :) But even if they're unraveled, you can usually follow it back to the beginning... in this case, my lusting over a SS cage. I would LOVE to know about your cages. I'm hoping they're not as wonderful as they are in my feather-clouded dreams! That would make it far worse! ;)

The one I have now is from King's. The lady who owns the store where I bought my birds buys all of her cages from King's, and as a result will frequently sell them to her customers at her cost to make sure her babies are able to have the largest cages possible. You're right, it's a very nice cage, and my babies are not suffering in the least!
