Hatch Days.

Postby kaylayuh » Fri May 06, 2011 4:30 pm

Do you guys do something special for your parrot's hatch day? Or if you don't know when that day is, the day you brought them home? If so, what do you do?

I was told that Apple was 4. Who really knows.. We often joke that Apple is like 28, which would make him older than the both of us, and that he observes the world with his much acquired wisdom while contently grinding his beak.

Spice was born in January, or at least I think.

I never really have made a fuss about my animal's birth/hatch days, but I think it might be fun. Most of the critters that have come my way, we've not known the date anyway. Heck, anymore I'm inclined to forget my own!

I don't know my birds hatch days either. The budgies came from PetCo who told me which company delivers their birds, but they couldn't tell who breeds them because they didn't know. Cheney Bird was found in Baltimore, MD and the rescue was never able to track down his information.

Since I know their coming home weeks, I'm inclined to celebrate those, I think. Pigpen's is the second week of September, No Name's is the first week of December. Cheney Bird came home on March 12th. I may splurge for more expensive, super special toys. But other than that, I don't think I'll do much special for them since I doubt they realize it's their special day.

Take pictures of them, have a blog post about it and give them an extra treat or two.

Most of my pets , i don't know their hatch day, but all of my babies that i band have a card filled out with all the pertinent info, which i give a copy of to their new parents.Several of my birds are wild caught so i know within a few days of when they were hatched , but most are rescues and i don't have a clue. Christmas is usually our only special day.

jango my rainbow lori hatched on 2nd of march 2010 and qwil my budgie hatched on 4th of november 2009

i usually just get a really expensive store bought shredder toy (even thou bottle tops and raisin boxes are more fun)

for qwil i bought him a swing with a bell attached (he is in love with bells)

i dont know what ill do next year (well this year for qwil) probably something to do with bells again. or im thinking of a play mate...he will be 2 and i think he would appreciate a girlfriend but undecided yet.

I don't remember and I don't celebrate. Yes, Christmas we always buy more toys, treats for all our and wild animals. Our tradition became that every year before Christmas Eve supper, we go to local forest and feed hungry animals. When it's cold, dears eat from our hands.
We first feed all our pets and then have supper.
Kaylayuh, Natacha's idea about blog/website is good too :)
