This :\

I posted more in the beginning when I first joined, and only posted a few times since, but I've kept reading the forum throughout and hearing some really well-informed and experienced words. The forum would not be better off without you.

Anyway,
The forum has been loading a bit slowly yesterday and today. I think someone mentioned server maintenance? That's probably it.

Firstly, Captwest.. We really hope you stay, I admit that I'd feel a little empty without you here. Both you and Roz are very respectable, knowledgeable members who make being part of this forum more enjoyable. Your expertise and kindness has helped many owners and will continue to make a difference if you choose to stay. It's quite unfortunate that you felt this way. Also, yesterday was down for forum maintenance so I had no access for a good part of the day.

patdbunny wrote:First off - Apologies to CaptWest for hijacking his thread. Now for the hijacking -
I totally agree. It's nice to hear about rehomed or rescued parrots, but sometimes I like to get a viewpoint from a breeder.

On the rehome/rescue stories - you all know I have a special love for sun/jenday conures. On another forum someone's going to be rehoming their jenday due to screaming and biting. This is going to be the bird's 3rd or 4th home. They've tried "everything". And everyone's all hugs and supportive of the rehoming. . . And then another thread most people are saying suns/jendays scream constantly and that's just they way they are.

There's plenty of breeder bashing out there. But there's nothing but support for the owner who "just can't handle it anymore" due to problems they allowed to develop. Now this poor bird is officially in the "rescue" category!

Having these types of conures for over 20 years and knowing they are not this way, you all have no idea how angry this misinformation and, to me, flippant getting rid of the bird makes me!

Roz, I actually read those threads on that forum. It really is quite unfortunate. Previously I was also under the impression that Aratinga conures screech all the time and much more excessively compared to other species.

I will echo everyone else on here when I say that Capt and Roz: Please don't go! There are an ever dwindling number of people in the world that have a true grasp of common sense. Please don't deprive the forum of your common sense here.

I too have very few bird resources, and count the forum as a good one. It will be less so without you here.

No, no, no. I'm staying - I LIKE you guys! I just resist the urge to hit "reply" on the argumentative stuff. I fail at this sometimes and have to say my peace, but I try not to be too emotional about it.

Roger P - you need to post more. I want to hear everyone's views. I feel a little weird just hearing my own typing constantly. You too Jayebird. You know, like the Who's in Whoville - WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE!

LyzGrace - OMG! I just got a glimpse 10 years into my future. . . Hopefully she'll be married to a vet/vet school student. Not that your hubby's not fantastic, I'm sure.

Stay Capt. You're bigger than I am. I need to hide behind you after I throw stuff.

I would love to post more but don't really get the chance to check into the forum until the evenings, and by then someone has already usually said what I am thinking, and it's no use beating a dead horse....

WAIT! Before things spin off the rails again, I would never beat a horse (or any animal for that matter), living or dead

I think we can agree to disagree and can still make our viewpoint known, without trying to impose it on others. (Channeling Rodney King here) Can't we all just get along?

Hahaha, Roz I love you!!! The hubz and I will be moving back to PA after he graduates in about 2 years (can't go quickly enough... I want OUT of Atlanta...). We'll be back in the boonies and I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with an assortment like yours. Not that there's not ALREADY an assortment like that already waiting back at my parents' house  I'll just have to move next-door so my mom and I can share.

And ACTUALLY, Nate will be taking over the chiro practice of his dad, who does do chiropractic on pets, mostly dogs and horses. Apparently he adjusted someone's rabbit once and practically brought it back to life... I'm not sure how easy it would be to adjust a birdy, though... quite a difference in skeletal structure there :P

I think it's funny that you're dying to move back and I'm dying to get out, lol.

Haha - yeah, I was the classic teenager/college student who said "anywhere but here." It was depressing talking to older people like "You've been in the Valley your WHOLE LIFE?!" Now that I'm out I can't imagine raising a family anywhere else. Of course, I lived with my family 'til the day I got married and never moved in my life, so this whole not-being-able-to-go-to-the-grocery-store-and-see-20-people-you-know crap is drivin' me up a wall :P

I am super paranoid I did or said something to offend, if I have I am deeply and sincerely sorry. I hope no one leaves, I know I am super new here and very annoying, but I have deeply valued all I have learned here. I've learned more here in a few weeks then years of owning birds!
