Birds Fair - your experience?

I was finally on Birds Fair Saturday. Unfortunately my camera is dead; I'm thinking about new one since the price of battery is high.

About subject: I was in half-heaven. I could pet Cockatoos, one I hold on my arm. I was staring at birds: Scarled-Chested and Turquoisine Beautiful !!!
Toys was 1/3 or even 1/4 price like the one in the stores and unique, so we both have now a lot of them(couple with a home made cookies http://www.reneezzroost.com)
Our dog and Chico immediately had to try one, now budgies are finishing them
Elements to make toys for birds was much cheaper than in a craft store, some of them even cheaper than in a dollar store.
Even cages was cheaper...
I was one step from buying hand-feed Scarled-Chested, but I said no, since Chico is still not mature. I took a breeder phone for future.

The only one regret: Among a lot of birds I didn't saw any single Amazon...

I've never been to one, but I've been dying to find one to go to. The closest ones to me are usually in Philadelphia which is an hour away. Most of them are in Erie or Pittsburgh,though, and both of those cities are six or seven hours away. Since I have no car, it's kind of hard to get there.

Also, I'm afraid if I did go to one, I'd come home with a dozen birds and hundreds of toys. I can't resist babies or bird toys.

Oh, I truly don't think that a conscientious, responsible breeder who genuinely worries for the health of his babies would participate in a bird fair to sell babies.

I love going and seeing all the unique birds I'd otherwise not see outside of a zoo - rollers, tits, toucanettes, mutation this-and-that. Then it saddens me that I don't see things that used to be "common" like mousebirds, brotogeris keets, peking robins, nanday conures, peach front conures.

I've passed on buying some unique birds because I didn't know what they were and wanted to research them first. I very much regret that as some I've never ever seen again anywhere.

I get supplies and on occasion a bird or two. I have sufficient area to quarantine, otherwise I might not. I'm a bit paranoid about disease so the supplies I get I leave outside in the sun for 2 weeks for UV sterilization.

I went to a bird show in Atlanta right after putting a deposit on my baby and the breeder goes to that show specifically because they have the entire back corner to themselves. Nobody comes within 6 feet of her birds. They're there for show, education, and publicity so that she can make contact with people afterwards. She is, in my limited opinion, one of the best strictly-eclectus breeders in the nation from how many I've researched and spoken with. The fact that she's local is a coincidence. Honestly, she's top notch. Not that there may not be a fair share of sketchy "breeders" and risk with so many birds in one room, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that every breeder there is being careless.

Aside from birds, it really is a great place to get cages and supplies as long as you have a careful eye and willingness to barter

Hi, I'm very interested in going to one of these! There is a bird "show" is what they call it coming up in my state in August and I am planning on going for my birthday. :] Hopefully I can find a cage there worth buying! If not, I'll order one online. I don't plan on bringing anything living home that day, but you never know ;]

So, would it be a wise idea to buy a baby at one of these things or not so much?
And... Is a bird "show" the same thing as a bird "fair" or expo?
