snow blizzard

Postby tacotaco » Sat Dec 19, 2009 12:16 pm

is it crazy that i am SO excited for this blizzard today?? I live on long island, NY and this will be our first snowfall in our new house. we are expected to get 10 to 15 inches and 50 mph winds. it just started flurrying here and everything in my backyard is blowing (as you can see below.) the grocery stores are so packed!! we just covered all the outdoor stuff with tarps. and I did put the heat up a lot higher than usual *** keeping the birds away from the windows is a must!!

heres a before shot from my room right now, hopefully by later i can take another one of ALL white!! yipeeee :)

We just did all our food shopping as well cause no chance I'm going out tomorrow for it.

I hope the birds don't go crazy from the pressure changes. So far Kili is acting pretty normal.

Lucky you. We just got about 10 inches in the greater metropolitan area. And unfortunately it is not enough to get the roads blocked off and get to stay in all day. We gotta go out and shovel and trudge through it to get places. Ugh! :(

I'm so jealous! We heardly get snow here and when we do it's only an inch maybe two and it melts away the same day!
I wish we had real winters here!

Wow, that's a lot of snow! We need another good dump of it up here, I love it when there's lots of snow :)

Nice Koi pond btw, I've always wanted one!

How are you making out with the aftermath on day 2?

I was out shoveling for hours yesterday, 10 inches or so in NYC.

ok, my regular 1 hour commute turned into 2 hour. not as bad as i thought it was gonna be. roads on the expressways and highways were pretty clear. Side roads, not so much. Lots of car accidents and detours..

I just fear that now with the sun out, everything turns to slush yeah, and then tonight black ice and crappy drivers... I took my mom's truck, hoping to be fine :)

drive safe (and slow!)

I stepped in a semi ice/semi water puddle today, sunk through and got my shoe a little wet..... this is what happens when some of the snow melts forming water, the water flows to the bottom ( water is more dense) and then you step on what appears to be a patch of snow but really isn't. :?

I so miss snow. Actually, I miss Winter. I really dislike living in a place without one. Maybe I should move.
