Liz, I completely agree. I had Tico (Blue Front) DNA tested just because I was curious, turned out we had a girl. We are still looking for another Amazon chick (DYH or YN) to raise and be a friend to Tico. I especially like Amazons and have 86'd my husband's idea of a Macaw, just too big for us right now, as much as I'd like to raise one. That can wait until we get to the Keys in a couple years.
I'd like a Nape or DYH because I've really gotten into language and would like to see the difference between a female Amazon and a male. Tico's learning curve is cool, but I've heard the Napes and DYH are even better. BTW I fell in love with a Yellow Nape years and years ago when I worked at a Pet Shop (before I knew better), and this bird was unbelieveable...they wanted $1000 for him back in 1982! He did know quite a few words, none rude. I trained a really nice Senegal we got in that year that was not at all hand tamed, and within a few months he/she was hanging around on my shoulder all day at work. Of course he sold pretty quickly after that.
Oh well. This has nothing to do with eggs, does it?
