no answer to that part? cos they would ban people for those reasons on your 'community forum'

I didn't come here to argue with you, I came to have my answer. Are you Administrator, who can give me one normal and clear answer?
Plus I left that forum, because Administrator was offending people, now it's the other way around, I don't think so.
Still, why people got banned here? And I'm asking somebody, who banned them.

Plus, did anyone ever ask anyone to leave this forum?

Hi Margaret,

I'm sorry if those you are speaking for did not understand the reason they were banned. I'm not sure what "Administrator email" you are referring to, but there is only one email address specifically linked to this forum, No-Reply(at)TheParrotForum.com. It is not checked and/or used for any purpose other than to send automatic messages to members when they join the forum. I'm sorry if you or the others thought they were being ignored by this email address, that is not the case, it simply is not and cannot be used or even checked for new emails. Hence why the name is "No-Reply".

Please see the following forum rules. I hope they can answer your questions. Also, please feel free to copy and paste these rules and share them with the individuals who still have questions.

These are our forum rules. Please take a moment to read them because your ability to participate in this forum is contingent on your adherence to these rules:

7. Moderator actions such as banning, blocking, locking and deleting hinder learning. However, there are spammers, rule breakers, and trolls, and we will use these methods as a last resort to maintain peace and goodwill on the forum.

8. No advertising, commercial use, or spam. Administrator and moderators have final say in what is considered advertising. Selling or exchanging live birds, cages, or parrot supplies falls under this same category and is not permitted. For the safety of buyers, sellers, and birds alike, the forum does not permit or facilitate any transactions between members or posting of classified ads.

The loose definition of spam is, "posting things or links with the primary purpose of promoting other sites rather than participating in discussions on this forum".

The individuals that have been banned were not "picked on" or "banned without reason". They were in direct violation of rule #8, and therefore, rule #7 came into effect and they were banned as a last resort to end the harassment and spamming of the other members of this forum. Private Messaging privileges were removed to prevent further spamming, this was to ensure the spamming would cease while allowing the individuals to continue participating on the forum and joining the discussions. The administrator and moderators had grounds to ban immediately after the first sign of spamming, but the individuals had been active members of the forum and the decision was made to allow, and welcome, them to continue participating. When the spamming continued, the individuals were banned as a last resort to protect the other forum members.

I sincerely hope the above information answered your questions.

Mandy, I am glad you answered Margaret's question, but as a new member, I really hope this drama ends soon. When I stumbled across this site a few weeks ago I was absolutely thrilled with the wealth of information here. It wasn't long before I found some of the controversial threads that resulted in some members leaving/being banned.

I haven't been a bird owner for long, about five weeks, and I already know there are just some things people are not going to agree on such as wing clipping, flight training, trick training, training diets, or any other type of diet for that matter. So arguing about those things is pointless, expressing differing viewpoints is acceptable however, but in the end sometimes you just have to agree to disagree. You don't throw the baby out with the dirty bath water as they say.

I hope this all ends soon as it really does detract from what most of the people are here for. In the end, we all love our feathered family members and want what's best for them. :)

She was not quite what you would call refined. She was not quite what you would call unrefined. She was the kind of person that keeps a parrot.

People did get banned. Without being told why. Ive been on forums for 10+ years and never seen banning without explanation, even if we all know the rules. None of the people banned were ever trying to promote another site OVER this one. As bird owners we owe it to our fids to educate ourselves as much as possible, why can't that include other bird sites? Is it just mentioning that ONE other site? That is seriously petty and immature. People are allowed to link all over the place on this site, but mentioning that one other parrot site results in banning?

I had my PM ability taken away. I never spammed. I never sent out an invite to another place. I got shitty with Micheal in a thread but no more so then he got with me, but I was punished. Super, right? People aslo had a problem with their PMs being read my mods, how else would they know whose PMs to shut down?

I liked this forum despite significantly disagreeing with almost everything Micheal said, but I am content to respectfully co-exist, but that seems one sided too.

I think so many posters give valuable advice here, and I hate that things have gone down so shady. I wish everyone and their flock the best.

when you say no advertising, i know Michael is the owner of this forum but he advertises the sale of his perches and other training equipment im pretty sure if i started up making stuff i wouldn't be aloud to advertise it AT ALL on here, shouldn't the rules apply to everyone, owners and administrators included i see Michael replies to questions people have about a product or situation and hes very quick to put his training perches out there (including links to buy them) and shows how good they are but does not recommend anything else, that seems like advertising a product, im not hating nor do i have a problem with it im just pointing out something i see that goes completely against the rules and as Michael is a owner would impact on new members to post there own stuff

We already 'advertise' on here with online vendors that sell parrot paraphernalia. Greymatter is a member and has her own toy shop. As a matter of fact, I believe we need to exchange information regarding vendors that we find remarkable. A huge part of parrot ownership is buying appropriate food and supplies for them, and if we can't share the knowledge that could evidently lead us to the best for our birds- that's ridiculous. I think the 'no advertisement' rule should be directed at vendors or websites that are only competitive to this board.
