Found Bird

Postby theparrotletdude » Sat Aug 06, 2011 6:10 am

Hi,

I have found a pigeon at Briar Chapel Pool, Pittsboro, NC. He is gray with white wingtips and tail, a few other white splotches and a crest on back of head. He was found there about three weeks ago.
He has a green leg band that says either 820 or 208. There might have also been an N on the leg band but I could'nt really tell. My attempts to catch him were unccesfull.

Anyone own him?!?

It might be a racing pigeon that hasn't found its way home yet. I have a neighbour that raises pigeons to compete in races and they aren't tame at all. Some of them don't find their way home.

Will he be ok there or do I need to catch him and rehome him?

It should be fine. It knows where to find food, especially in an urban setting and will probably take up with a flock of wild pigeons before long. :)

But if you want to keep an eye on it just to be sure, that'd be okay too.
