Woo-hoo!

Postby SKOShields » Thu Sep 15, 2011 11:52 am

Went and met my bird today. :)
I found him on kijiji the other day and had to do visit him.
He's the sweetest little thing, he sat on my knee and tilted his head to me so I can scratch it. I'm so excited! Then he just sat there and clicked and whistled. I really think he likes me :) Hopefully I can get the money up and go pick him up in a week or two.

I feel so bad tho, the guy I'm getting him from really loves him and I know its upsetting him to get rid of him :/ but I mean, he's selling him bc he doesn't have time for him since he works 12 hours a dayc so...

Now the question is, do I keep his name (Saxon) or change it, I was thinking about changing it to Echo?

Thanks!
He's a two year old Senegal and he's an absolute doll.
Well were assuming he's a boy, the guy wasn't sure so he's just been calling him a boy. Once I get him home and settled I'll go get a dna test done to be sure.

He really is adorable. He came right to me and immediately bent his head down for a scratch. He clicked and whistled and even tried to talk a little. I have no idea what he was trying to say but it was cute none the less. If u can't already tell, I'm insanely excited! I can't wait to bring him home!

Do they usually take well to name changes? I'm not sure if he actually knows his name or not yet, but I don't want to confuse him.

Oh I hope not :(
I'll actually be the third person to have him, he was with a lady who had young boys and their playing freaked him out. The guy I'm getting him from said he doesn't like any kind of electronics around him, he gets upset and bites. I think it may have to do with the kids, like maybe their toys scared him or something.

Visiting him ahead of time is great. Your friend is trying to give him a better home than he can give. I have given up pets that I dearly loved when I realized someone else could go better by them. And like your friend it was always to someone I knew and trusted. You can also think of it this way - you are getting him and not a stranger.

Rambo was acting "girlie" in the spring so we were picking on him and calling him Rainbow. He was quite indignent that we did not say his name right.

I actually found him online. The guy lives like two hours away, so today was the first time I met either of them. I think ill send him picture like every month or couple months so he can see how Saxon is doing.
Speaking of Saxon, I guess ill just wait and see how attached he is to the name. If he gets confused when I call him Echo, we'll go back.

Are you sure this is the right bird for you? I mean, this is the first bird you met. Are you sure you want to scope around for a bit more?

Myrtle was named for Myrtle Beach SC where the previouse owners bought her. That is an awful name for a pretty bird. I have been calling her Myrtle Baby. She will now answer to Baby as a nickname.

My Terrier named Bruce will also answer to Munchkin.
My daughters dog Riddick will answer to Pretty Boy.
My daughters dog Ramey knows we mean him when we say Clown.
My mother can never remember the little Chihuahua's name is Chloe so she calls her Twinkie. She does look like a twinkie and will answer to it.

They all still answer to the origianl names and know each others name.
