Well I mean, I've played with the birds at the store, young birds and older ones, but he was the nicest one I played with. Like ever. Lol. And he's the only one who actually seemed to care that I was holding him and wasnt like spaced out ya know? I really think we clicked.

And yea that makes sense, hell just kinda know both names. :)

Ladu.... I had her for 2 nights but had to give her bak to the shop as she regressed and wouldnt eat for us and was crying...and wen she did eat mashed peas she still cried, it was so sad we knew all she wanted was her baby food. But when my bf dropped her at the shop she gave a different cry when he was leaving, which he think was dont go... so at least she likes us, i think. wev heard nothing since and plan to visit her 2moro. but id say there could be another few weeks in it. mayb the first guy was trying to get rid of her saying she was weaned. so excited to bring her home when we do...again haha

SKO...it shouds like he likes u so thats a good start and i hope u can b his forever home, being moved around must be horrible for the little thing. love and attention and ye should be best of friends :D

Well, for anyone still interested, I'm going to pick Echo up tomorrow!

I meant to post earlier about what his present owner emailed me earlier this week, it made my day.
"Started to email you Friday just to let you know I think he misses you. After I got home he wouldn't have anything to do with me. I know he is going to a loving home and I won't have to worry about him."
Lol I read that and got all sorts of giddy Haha. I'm so excited to bring him home. I can't wait to start training him and get him used to a harness so I can take him places.

Ahh! It's like Christmas! Lol.

How long should I wait?
I want to be able to take him out and socialize him so I can try to counter any phobias before they start. I asked about socialization in the taming and training section but didn't get very many responses. That's my biggest fear, is that I would have gotten him too late to properly socialize him and he'll be phobic and a one person bird.

Honestly, Echo was super friendly to you when you were stranger to him, so I wouldn't think that he is phobic of people or anything. I don't think it's late, I would suggest taking him outside in a small carrier first so that he gets used to it :)

Don't feel bad about taking him away from an owner who does not have the time for the bird. If the owner really doesn't have time, and is mature enough to make the decision to rehome the bird, then that is the best thing for the bird. I acquired my first bird that way, and I am now even friends with the owner.

Also, Not to sound judgmental, but make sure the owner seems like a decent person. You have NO IDEA where this bird has ACTUALLY been.

Make sure the owner cares about the bird, asks YOU questions, and seems like s/he is absolutely trying to find the best for the bird. If you feel anything fishy, by all means, please walk away. Last thing you want is either a sick bird, or a bird that has been stolen from its rightful home.

GlassOnion- yea that makes sense, I just wanna make sure I do everything right straight off so I have less of a chance of running into problems down the road.

Cage Cleaner- I think he's a good guy, like, I've been bombarding him with questions and he seems really knowledgeable about Echo's personality as well as Senegals in general. Hes an older man who really seems to care about where he goes, cuz he said there was a lady on Alabama who wanted to come see him but went and saw another bird first that bit her and she didn't want anything else to do with birds and he said he probably wouldn't have given him to her simply for how upset she got when she got bitten.

We've been emailing back and forth all week just to make sure I have everything ready and he's been really helpful, telling me what pellets to get and what echos favorite toys are and such.
