How long have you owned or been involved with parrots?

How long have you owned or been involved with parrots? Did you just start? Looking to get a parrot? Had one most of your life? How much has span of ownership affected your opinion of parrots and your relationship with them?

I have been involved with parrots since I 2 so 21 years. I have only owned birds for 10 years.

Got my Amazon in September of 2008. That was my first experience with an actual parrot besides seeing and handling a few in pet stores on rare occasions. I've had canaries and doves in my life before that.
