Am I alone?

Postby liz » Fri Oct 21, 2011 10:12 am

Canada has a cluster of parent parents in the forum.
Australia has at least 2 just 25 miles apart.
Parrot parents are showing up from everywhere and have others near them.
Am I the only parrot parent in North Carolina who love her babies enough to be here?
How about Virginia or South Carolina? Are there any there?

Liz,
I think that you and I are about 2 hours apart. I live in south eastern Virginia...Suffolk. I have recently discovered Phoenix landing, which is a parrot rescue that covers our area and my wife and I are hoping to add 1 more bird to our flock. She has always wanted a macaw. Anyway, yes, you do have a parrot parent somewaht close to you. With all of the members here, I would guess that there is someone even closer.

Thank you. I have asked before and had no response.

I am in a little town below the Piedmont Triad (Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point).

We have a rescue named Red Dog Farm in Greensboro. I haven't been there but it sounds like a good place.

I found Myrtle on CraigsList. I paid the woman $300 for a pitiful, skinny and scared bird. She took a while to gainweight and get pretty but now she is such a joy.

The college I'm hoping to go to next year is in Virginia! But sadly, I don't have a bird and I won't until I'm done with school and have my own apartment. Pets (including fish and birds!) aren't allowed in the dorms. :(

I don't think there's anyone else from CA that's active, either. I don't mind, though.

Im in Northern VA, actually just recently there was a Parrot seminar by Pheoniex Landing. I only caught the end of it because I was at a meeting. It looked very informational. I wish I could have caught more of it! oh and there were a ton of people there! I couldn't believe it!

Maybe parrots are uncommon enough that even people who didn't own one went to the seminar because it looked interesting?

I'm in grad school in West Virginia (New Jersey is my home when I'm not at school). Probably doesn't help but not too far from Pittsburgh.
