Have you told management how you feel. Tell them that bird isn't getting a fair chance and can never be sold that way. Tell them it will only get worse. Lean on them that you will take him home and socialize or that they give you a big discount to take it out of the store because it is devalueing the other birds and is a bad representative of that store.
Make them believe you would be doing them a favor. Exert yourself.

I TOTALLY agree with Liz. Quote the facts...what will happen if the bird doesn't get help (love and attention) he deserves and what COULD happen if somebody takes an interest to the bird's welfare = selling the bird. The poor fella....be assertive...sounds like you are the only one sticking up for the amazon. Good luck
