Basically there are no constraints. But if it is wider than there is space for, it will get cut off. 575px width makes a perfect fit. As for height, I don't think there is a specific limit. But if the photos are greater than 800px high, they may get cut off by the constraints of some people's monitors.

I tend to stick to 500px on whatever is the longest side when posting to any forum and it's generally always been ok. Simplifies things
