I suspect I am a bit more rebellious than most of the other members in this forum so I will do my best to be nice. First, I am VERY laissez-faire. I believe the less government the better(I work for the government and feel qualified to say that...lol) Historically, most legislation is a response to a problem or perceived problem that falls out of bounds of traditional laws. Unfortunately, this has overburdened the legal and justice system to a point that alot of the folks in these systems cannot keep up with the changes. My branch is still having issues complying with state legislative changes from 2 years ago! Some of the issues will be addressed again this coming session. When a person chooses to take a pet home, it should be a rational thought out "commitment", not a whim! I do not think we need additional laws to insure this though. It has been said I have a zoo. I have Llamas, wild hogs, chickens, cats, dogs, and exotic birds. I have owned snakes and routinely collect rattle snakes for folks. Sorry, but I have no great affinity for snakes and care not to have one for a pet

They do make nice boots

I run a constant battle with predators here in the country. I lost most of my sheep to mountain lions and coyotes. I once caught a baby bobcat in a live trap and raised it up to adult. It was NEVER a pet and I got it really young. What I am getting at is that with the decision to have ANY pet, you have decided to take responsibilty for that pet. Whether it is exotic or not. I purchased a Goffin Cockatoo for my wife. Sadly, it was a bad idea. She never stays committed to anything. I take care of him but I am pissed cause she got tired of him after the novelty wore off. I feel that happens alot with many pets. How many people get rid of a puppy after it becomes a dog? I get them dumped out here all the time. which leaves me having to take care of them or find homes for them. Some become very wild and must be destroyed. I take my commitments seriously, I only wish others did so as well. As to those that brought the gun debate into this. My experience is that most offenses are committed with weapons stolen. Most police officers are shot with their own weapon! Not a fact publicized very often. That is why the trend in teaching weapon retention is so important.
