If you're going to post things like “I bought a bird at a fair, don't know what to do, and I'm an experienced bird owner" then you should expect a smart ass answer.

In the interest of the bird, you haven't posted things like what its diet is, if you've taken it the vet, if you've attempted clicker training, what its daily routine is...answer these questions and people can help you out.

Honestly no bird is destined to be only a breeder. You've had it for two weeks, taming a bird can take much longer than that. But, you know, that's just in my experience.

Just take your time. It has taken me 5 years to tame one of my rescues and we still aren't all the way there. Everythings in the birds own time but you will get there eventually, just have patience and keep working on it several times a day til your birds completely comfortable with that stage until you move on a bit further.

I do think a check up with an avian vet is in order too just to rule out any medical conditions or other problems. I must admit mine have never had new bird checks as the nearest avian vet it over an hour away but thats something I'm going to change with any additional birds I get, along with getting them a yearly check up.

You should check out Michael's Taming Article. Even though you may be an experienced bird owner, it will probably give you new insight or a different angle into your situation. Let us know how the clicker conditioning and target training goes!

You never mentioned if you have taken the bird to the vet yet, or what its diet is, or what approaches you have already tried that have been unsuccessful. A little more info would be very helpful to us because we aren't there and can't see the bird for ourselves.

Good luck and keep us updated!
