It doesn't have to be 575px x 800px. It's 575px by whatever it comes out to 300, 400, etc. Just not more than 800. See this page as an example where people resized pics to 500px wide by whatever tall and it comes out just fine:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38

Tons and tons of photos have been successfully posted without problems. Yet things have been kept tidy and efficient to facilitate discussion first and foremost.

No, you can use any image-hosting site to post pictures on the internet. I use Tinypic but there's also Photobucket and many others

TBH I just can't be bothered trawling through them all to find one that agree with my morals- if such a pic site exists, resize them all, upload all the pics I might want to use, then trying to figure out how to get them from there to here.

I checked the pix at the link, and the first one was 168K. Most were over 100K.

I use XP, so this may not work for everybody:

Click on a file pic, which brings it up in MSOffice Pic Manager
Hit "Edit Picture"
Hit "Compress"
Hit "Compress for web page"
Save As "xxxx"
Hit "Don't Save" when exiting Pic Manager, or the original will be lost.

This is what you have to do for this forum's 575x layout.
-------------
With free Microsoft "Image Resizer":

Right click on pic file.
Hit "Resize"
Click on Small (640x480), or just Enter, as that's default

That's it: it's automatically saved as original name (small) without losing original.
