Don't get one of these. lol, actually most turtles I've seen will at least "attempt" to go after fish, nipped fins and such. If you value the quality and stress of your koi I wouldn't recommend putting a turtle in there.

Alligator snappers were one of my favorite species as a child. I like how you picked a pet that lives even longer than a parrot lol. I saw one at a zoo where a bullet recovered from its shell was dated back to the civil war.

Oh my God, he is gorgeous! What's his name? How big is he? I looked them up online and wikipedia says the adults can sometimes grow to be over 45 pounds, wow! Is your going to grow that big or did you get some kind of miniature one (if that even exists)?

He doesn't have a name yet, but I'm leaning more toward "Mac" (Short of the scientific name of species being Macrochelys temminckii) He is currently about 10" & about 7yrs old, so just a little guy right now, these guys can live very long up to 150 (or more years)
They also get MUCH bigger than 40lbs, reaching up around 175lbs as adults. (you may have been referring to the common snapping turtles which are smaller) There's no such thing as a "dwarf alligator snapping turtle" as far as I know, they are the largest freshwater turtle in North America.
