The brand name on my navigation system is Garmen.

I have a problem with too many things running through my mind at the same time and missing my turns. It tells me how far my next turn is, gives me a 1 mile warning and then tells me where to turn and when.

:swaying: My little Tweetle Dee is just like this. He is a perpetual motion machine.

I got home at 7 pm and already miss their happy little tweets.

Those babies deserved better than I could give them. I do hope it is a successful rehome.

I dropped them off to their new home and spent a little time helping to get them settled in and everything appears good. Although I didn't take as much time as I wanted to, I will return tomorrow morning with some extra feed dishes for them as well as a supply of wooden perches from my trees for them as well as to trim poor Harley's beak so that he can eat and groom properly. When I looked them over more closely, I didn't see anything, that to me appeared to be indicative of liver damage. Because of this, I will proceed with the trim and provide chewable perches and I will make a batch of wooden toys for them to destroy and hopefully this will solve the over growth of his beak. I am also going to proceed nutritionally as if there is liver damage, just to be on the safe side of things.
This will allow the new owners to concentrate on bonding and socializing them. I have discussed all of this with the new owners and am proceeding in this manner simply because if for some reason things don't go as well as I think that they will, then the birds will come to my home and I will provide them a home, but I really don't see this to be needed.

Wolf, I forgot to tell you that the feeder does not work with them. I use that kind of feeder so the empty shells will fall off. They scratch in it like chickens. Within 30 seconds they have it on the floor of the cage. I used a beverage carrier to help keep the food in place while we traveled. I have been giving them greens and other vegetable but just not yesterday because of the travel
I feel really guilty for not taking time to notice Harleys beak. Hopefully Marley will be kept busy by her new family and not have time to pluck.

Thank you again.

I have never had one of anything. I always had 2 dogs and 2 cats etc. Tweetle seem happy on his own but I am not happy to have him alone. If there is no one who can take him who already has a :swaying: maybe someone has one that they want to rehome. Let me know.

I went to town today and took some feeders and a cage mounted bird bath for Harley and Marley and trimmed Harley's beak. I took the time to look them over in detail to see what was what with them and checked their nails while I was at it and everything appears to be ok. The new owners are not overcrowding them but do spend time outside of the cage talking to them and helping them to relax.
I gave them a basic recipe for gloop along with suggestions for fruit and vegetable additives when it is served so as to give more variety to the birds. It was less than 24 hours from the time I dropped the birds off and got them set for the evening until I was back to finish with their setup and watched them while I cut new perches down and trimmed off the extra twigs so that they would fit the cage, and still leave adequate chewing material on them, and the birds were active and chirping and seemed to respond well while I was there. Yes, they were a little nervous with me being in and out of their cage but not overly so. Unless something comes up, I will see them again in a couple of days.

Re: REHOME...

We rescued a 6 year old Eclectus male parrot from a dreadful situation. He was being kept in a parakeet cage with broken wires and had a 3inch perch to sit on, the people were feeding him cookies. We paid them just to get him out of there and planned to find him a good home, he has been with us about 2 years and it's obvious we can't give him what he needs. He's a very friendly bird but he's the victim of his hormones and would be happier in a home with a female Eclectus. He's chewing his tail feathers and trying to "have his way" with anything that looks suitable.

Our African grey is 26 years old and hates him so not even companionship for him there. We are in our 60's and are conscious of the fact that he could live another 40 years so we feel he needs to be with someone younger. We do not want him to go to someone who's just a breeder he loves people too much for that and we have been cautioned about giving him away for free it seems people get these birds then flip then for money.

We live in the Dallas area and I'd welcome any advice or help.

Thank you so much, Mrs M, for taking him in! That was very kind of you and your husband. Yes, eclectus are very difficult birds to keep healthy and happy and, in truth, breeding them for pets is an even bigger disservice to them than to any other parrot species because they require such specialized diet and care or they get hormonal and start plucking/barbering, toe tapping or wing flicking. I live in NJ so I can't help you but I hope you find somebody with the right set-up and knowledge for him.
