My daughter sold her home like I did to move in and take care of the Elders. I brought 2 little dogs and 2 cats with me. She brought 32 critters which I didn't know about until she started bringing them in. They ranged from frogs and turtles to chickens and boxers. She has been rehoming as she found good homes and released the wild life in the spring to habitat that I chose.

Yesterday she rehomed Sylvesta the cat who was scaring my Sqeekie to a family with little dogs who wanted a cat but was afraid to mix species. The parking lot kitten I found in the rain moved into a family of 3 kids. The eleven year old claimed her before she even got out of the carrier.
A herd of hermit cabs and an aquarium of fish to an apartment dwelling family who were not aloud to have pets. The beta fish will be going home with her mechanic and she rehomed Tommy and Tammy by giving them to me. She is now down to 2 cats, 2 terriers and 2 boxers. Of course I still have to take care of them now that she has the job that takes her out of state. All in all I am so relieved.

I did not want a mated pair but cannot turn my back on these two. The birds, cage, toys and food have a rehoming fee of $100. The cage is worth more than that so the birds would be like Myrtle (throw aways). I can't let someone else get them and treat them that way.
I will drive and hour and 45 minutes to Durham tomarrow morning after my morning feed and clean. I was willing to drive 4 hours each way so it is not bad.

I had given up on my search so I put my own ad in. I guess I could handle 8 with some cage modifications. I was planning to build my own flight cage but I can modify with cage attachments so they still have plenty of room to fly.

Maggie has decided that I am more than hands with food. She tweeters when she sees me and comes to the side of the cage to tell secrets. She was a breeder bird so I have not asked her to step up but I can touch her when I put something new in the cage. She is so curious. I really love her already. She is coming around too.

I've always found tiels to be so sweet, mild-mannered and docile - as well as beautiful AND smart. People tend to underappreciate the small species - which is a royal shame, if you ask me!

Well, I got them and I am so glad I did. The man knew nothing about cockatiels. The pair turned out to be 2 females. He was so afraid of them that he toweled them. They belonged to his mother who passed away in March. He didn't even know their names.

I know. I can handle 8 if I modify the cage.
These two have to be quarantined. I thought my house was dirty. The house they came from had crud on the walls and smelled like urine. He was going to put the cage in my car dirt and all. I found a stone to scrap the poop of the bottom tray but it will take a lot more cleaning before it comes in the house. I have them in the little cage that Myrtle had to live in.

Well, wait and see because they might be bonded to each other and not need males. I thought I was going to need more female budgies because I had two males for one hen but the males bonded to each other and now the hen is alone - you just never know...

As long as they are happy I am happy. I don't need mated pairs it just seems better. If not my little flock can just hang together.
My last divorce was 1999 and I am a lot happier without a mate.

Rescue Me just sent an urgent notice that Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh NC 919-212-7387 has 6 Budgies running out of time and may be euthanized.

I am not able to start with another species at this time. I sure hope someone wants Budgies.

Yes, birds are now been euthanized, same as dogs and cats. What a shame I am not closer, I would take them...
