MapQuest says 500+ miles and 9 hours of travel. I can't leave Aunt Betty and the critters that long.

If we could meet halfway, I might be able to do it on a Saturday when my daughter is home.

I answered a craigslist post about 2 cockatiels and a conure. I thought 2 cockatiels in a cage and a conure in a cage. No. 1 cockatiel in a cage and the other has a 4 year old cockatiel with a conure baby brother. She said those two are bonded and cannot be separated. They are in Seagrove. The woman has cancer and worries about their future so she needs to rehome.
I can take the single cockatiel. Anyone interested in the odd couple.

I am picking up the single cockatiel today. I could forward our emails to you or you could go on craigslist/greensboro under pets/birds and bring up the original post Conure and cockatiel.

I have promised Pod, my jardine's parrot that I will do anything for him and that I will not abandon him like he had been several times previously...This whole past year has been wonderful but also a great deal of getting to know and trust each other. I will do what ever it takes to make it work...even if I have to get him a mate. After all, he deserves love...Because I can only spend two hours with him in the am on week days... I guess I better find a mate:
I need to know how to go about doing this... :perched2:

Well I finally went to Seagrove and got Lola this evening. She is so sweet and feminine. She is the first socialized cockatiel that I have ever brought home. I had her in a cat carrier for the trip. She was so scared that I put my hand in to try to calm her. That little sweetie perched on my finger all the way home. I have never had such an experience.

Shadow was one of the wild boys that I paid $10 for from an overcrowded breeder.
Tommy & Tammy were Rachel's but only Tommy would step up and that is all.
Maggie was a breeder bird who had her babies taken away all the time. She is missing toes.
Cagney and Lacy were loved at one time but I don't think they were handled at all.

They all respond to me now. They know my voice and want me to talk to them. Shadow and Tommy are the only ones who talk, step up and give kisses. Cagney and Lacy are coming around nicely. Maggie had to come the longest way but she is really trying. Tammy is the only one nice to her so she is holding back her fear and trying to bond to me. I am able to touch them all when I put my hand in the cage to do things but will only step up when they are tired from flying.

Lola has really charmed me.

The odd couple are still there. Kevin the Conure does not pick up his foot to wave, instead he waves his whole body. Tweet his cockatiel buddy is really sweet. He tried to talk to me but Kevin kept getting in the way. Kevin is much younger but he does talk.

Well, that is my update. I was so excited to get her that my daughter went with me to drive. Now I can't wait until morning to play with her. Since cockatiels learn from each other, she may teach the whole flock to let me hold them.
