Hi, I'm not too sure if there are many people from Holland on here at all but it may help you if you give an indication of what species you may be interested in.

Please do not support the breeding of parrots in captivity.
These birds are not at all suited to living as the average 'pet' as is evidenced by the insane amount of them that have behaviour problems as well as the number abandoned and the overflowing rescue facilities.

Anyone adequately knowledgeable about parrots should know this, and not support the breeding of these animals.

Thus, if you want to care for a companion parrot---please contact your local rescue and/or get a parrot from someone who no longer wants theirs.

I think you misunderstood what I said.

I DO NOT support the keeping of parrots as pets. Thus, I DO NOT support the taking of wild parrots to be pets. Also, I DO NOT support captive breeding of parrots or breeders.

These birds SHOULD NOT be in captivity at all because it is clear so many suffer and develop problems. SO I do not support breeders who bring more and more parrots into the world to be pets when there are so many abandoned as it is, because they should NOT be in captivity at all in the first place.

However, as we know we cannot release captive-bred birds back into the wild because they are not able to survive. Someone needs to take care of them.
Thus, I support rescues or adopting second-hand birds BUT I would NEVER support breeders who contribute to the problem of homeless and unwanted birds especially when these animals are not made to be in captivity.
