Cant help you on holland but I have read, if I don't remember wrong that holland is part of a collaboration with most of Europe and a couple of others. Stating we basically allow the same birds reptiles etc, and in that case you could make a road trip to UK or Denmark or whatever country is close enough for a road trip.
If Im not wrong you have to if you choose to fly with the bird land on certain airports (we got two here I know) and le them know beforehand. And you will have a vet meet you and examine your bird upon arrival. From some countries this is enough from others you will have to place the animal in quarantine. And not all countries has quarantines for birds. For example if I wanted to bring a bird from us here to Sweden I would have to bring it through Germany to use their quarantine, and then 30dAys later fly it to Sweden and have the vet meet me, alternatively drive it from Germany to sweden.
I'm absolutely not recommending you to ship your bird but I'm saying there are countries you can drive to within a day (perhaps not back and forth the same day) beware though to check what documents are required to bring with you depending on what list the kind of bird is on.
