Thank you for the encouraging words. Even if she would newer grow her feathers out that'd be ok too. I'm not all that fuzzed even though birds that looks healthy (even if missing feathers has nothing todo with health, unless they picked em on their own, then I would argue it is in one way or another fysiological or physical) is more pleasent to socialize since most people will think they look pretty and don't mind a closer look while a vulture will most likely only be socialized with other bird fellas, close family and friends. But I see no reason to why her feathers wouldn't grow back in seeing she has some new arrivals coming in.

She's doing okay. Today I had her out of the cage and she's currently a pedestrian she la is the strength to fly even though she tries. So I hope she regains that ability. But as for today I took her out and placed her on the floor and she wobbled around some studying the weird beardy fella laying down on his back in the middle of the room. Then she walked into the shower and I showered her some and fiddles a bit with her Mohican and her back which she tolerated for short periods of time so I alternated fiddling treating and showering (oh. She now takes treats from my hand). Then I had Togo to the store briefly so I grabbed her and places her back in the cage. Going back in when I grabbed her she didn't even nibble my fingers just looked around curiously as we walked back, grabbing her to take her out she clamped down tho, but her clamping down was less painful than the quick bite Polarn gave me when I took him out of the carrier. And no blood shed, guess its good to have a working mans hands sometimes....

As for having a galah before, nope never had one at home. We had goffin and umbrellas at home tho when I grew up. But I've been curiouse about them so done quite a lot of reading. And met a few of them. I just hope she will fit right into the flock once she is quarantined and hopefully flighted again. Polarn has met one before and seemed facinated, but he seems facinated by any bird bigger than a cockatiel. He do have his budgie and cockatiel friend even though they never interact more than verbally though. And he has been on a couple of outing meeting other birds and is always behaving nicely, and if anything he backs off so I'm not that worried. More worried that the galah will be freaked out or something when presented with the opportunity to meet and greet the rest.

Just take it very slowly when introducing them and your chances for success will be bigger :).

Do keep us updated on Gila, it really broke my heart seing that picture of her. It's great that you've rescued her from being treated in such a fashion, and I am sure that both her physical and mental health will improve in your care!

I agree with it being a heartbreaking picture. However that is the reality, unfortunately hers. But that is all changed now, just need to get her to understand that without a doubt. And I'll definitely keep y'all posted on her progress both when it comes to going from someone's breeding experiment into someone's pet (this is probably the biggest change for her, getting used to people moving around her rather than avoiding to not disturb) and I'll also keep you posted on her fysical health, weather she makes any progress on her flight abilities and feather growth. To be totally honest seeing here trying to fly and not be able to breakes my heart more than seeing her missing the feathers around her head. No matter how I look upon it, I rather see her look like a flying vulture than a crippled one.

And looking at her wings she really should have the feathers now to successfully take off, but she doesn't seem to have the strength to. So I'll keep bringing her out of the cage and let her vobble around on the floor and make her attempts to fly, can't risk having her climb ontop of the cage and try jump off to fly couse she will most likely fall. So the floor is her territory for now... Only thing I don't really like is that I have to grab her to take her in and out of the cage since she can't just fly back. But then again (even if I was never a fan) flooding used to be a valid, if not "the" way to tame a bird. So I think she can handle the grab take out and then after a while being lifted back in. If anything I believe it is worth it for her to be able to get some safe exercise. I don't want to get her into one of the bigger cages since she falls sometimes when she tries to fly or gets startled so low perches for now and get her used to be a pedestrian so that climbing up and down is the way. Or until she has regained flight.

Right now I'm more focused on getting her back in shape and becoming healthy than anything else. But I see progress each day even if it's minor I do notice how she becomes more alert and has started to whistle some etc. so I got good hopes for her to become a bird again.

Some updates on Gila the galah, I decided a couple of days ago not todo the full 11 weeks of quarantine but that a month was enough, especially since the vet hasn't found anything wrong with her other than the bad background. Anyways over the last couple of days instead of spending time in the quarantine with her I've been giving her a ride to the other birds and they've all behaved well, especially Polarn who already the second visit had figured that landing next to her will startle her so he started to land about 6feet away and walked up to her instead. Today she has been in here the whole day and she's been walking to and fro the foodbowls, wondering what Polarn wants when bringing toys etc and wanna play. Right now their all asleep in their normal places and she is sitting on a small branch that the others has chewed off from the tree right next to me sleeping, she did an attempt to climb up onto the bed earlier but nope, I don't want birds in the bed when I sleep. So once she figures that out she might have to get in the cage during nights, but as of now she can't and I want her to feel secure in the play area with the play gym and birch, and tomorrow I'm making a super low play tree for her to place there as well (just gotta figure out how todo it) couse I don't want her to be 6 feet up and get startled and fall to the floor.

She moves around a lot more and a lot better than she did a month ago and her wings feels stronger even if she doesn't do a proper flap so far she atleast stretches and preens, even if I have to start off new feathers for her to continue. Hopefully tomorrow will be as smooth with the introduction as today and she can be considered a full member of the flock.
For some reason when I try take a picture of her she still looks pretty much as bad as the previouse, but in person it seems her looks has improved but that is most likely because you get the behavior and activity thrown into the image then as well. She seems a bit off with new objects but I'll try get a pic of her climbing the tree I'm getting for her tomorrow. No guarantee tomorrow will be the day she climbs it though.

You have done so well with her. You have the Daddy touch. It is really good that Polarn is trying to bring her into the flock.

I do what I can, and I try to enjoy whatever I do. With the farm it is aimed for kids 2years and up and its like a petting zoo but not really. We kind of have them here in smaller groups everyday and include them in the chores on the farm, even if we skip the really booting ones. And we usually do some riding by the end of the visit. We also do riding lessons (still kids) doing plenty of work trying to affect the western scene here showing that a pony can do just what a quarter can do and that a pony is quite a suitable horse for a child to ride rather than a big horse. The farm is pretty close to city so main thing is basically allowing kids to meet these animals that they have only seen on tv or in a zoo, allowing them to get to know them as individuals and more about them as species.

Up until a couple of years ago I was dead set todo nothing but art to provide for myself, well I kind of got a bit tired of it, always doing what others want is quite booting in the long run (used to have a tattoo parlor) especially booting when I lived in a town where everyone is afraid of colors or shades. After I sold the parlor I truly enjoy tattooing again but try to not do more than a couple each week, occationally I do murals or sell a painting on a canvas but that's just a marginal income also do some custom paintwork sometimes, but usually I just paint small stuffs with the airbrush.

A bit of a messy reply but I hope that answers your question, basically I'm home all the time just sometimes in areas the birds aren't allowed (like their not allowed in the tattoo room or the garage where I paint).
