Sleep

Postby Khaiqha » Fri Sep 07, 2012 12:26 pm

Does anyone else's birds pay attention to when you sleep?

If I go to sleep, my birds leave me alone, or perch on my shoulder and nap. It doesn't matter if I sleep at night or take a nap during the day.

Yet the second I start to wake up they'll pounce on me and want to play. I feel kinda guilty because I sometimes disturb their sleep but they seem to be so respectful of my sleeping.

They can nap anytime. They take advantage of your nap for theirs. About 2 pm every day this house gets really quiet. Everything naps at the same time and sometimes I get one too.

Polarn does... if i fall asleep during the day or if i sleep to long in the morning he will hang upside down and scream his lounges out until i open my eyes, if the roster outside happens to make his sound Polarn will immitate that too. but he wont wake me up until 7:30 anyways and im usually up by then, if not it is definitly time to wake up in order to get everthing done for that day :)

Nika is adorable. She definitely wakes up earlier than me on weekends and such but I think she stands quietly for a while and then gets bored. So first she starts with very quiet peeping and chattering and then gets annoyed that I'm not getting up fast enough and makes a special louder, peep-peep noise that must be a previous owner's alarm clock. I usually get up and feed her so that she's not just sitting in her covered cage, bored.

The one time I tried to nap she was not ready I guess for a nap and peeped the entire time keeping me on the edge of wakefulness. Little silly. :] She rarely screams, even in the morning or evening, which is great. When I roll her back to her area that her cage is for night-night she does make this sort of crying, chattering noise like a child. It's kind of adorable but creeped me out the first time I heard it.

So weird because the lady I got her from got rid of her because "supposedly" she woke her up early! Not once has she woken up on her own earlier than 7:30.

I've never fallen asleep when the birds are out as I like to know what they are doing at all times.
My boyfriend often tries to sleep on the sofa but if Ollie thinks he isn't paying attention he gives him a good hard nip and wakes him up. Sadly my bf has taught him loads of bad habits.

My birds never really were big nappers. Although lately, they've napped a bit. At around four o'clock, I come home from school. First I say hello to them and then go watch TV. The couch is right in front of their cage. They usually take a little nap until my show is done and then they wanna play with me!
