I paid 250 dollars for this cage and now it's 215 dollars! I know in the grand scheme of things 35 dollars isn't that bad, but I'm still annoyed.... >_< That's 35 dollars I could spend on some awesome parrot toys or perches.

250 dollars is still... well lets just say I wish cages like that were available here for them kind of money since them cages is more costy than that used here.... and being the twat that I am and living in a country where that cage you have there wouldnt be legal to stick my zon in the cage I got in the wardrobe is bigger and well... its not big enoguh for the size to be proportionitly big enough to reflect the pricedifference between yours and mine... Now I dont even have it mounted though couse it takes to much room really but I've got this in the wardrobe 78.74in X 36in X78.74H.

Next cage I get will definitly either be shipped, or I'm actually gonna weld it myself and turn it away for powdercoating I think.

Oh I agree :] great deal. In all my looking I couldn't find anything really comparable. There was another one or two that were okay but not nearly as big. I'm quite happy with it and I'm sure Nika is too. Probably the biggest she's ever been housed in. I am lucky that California has great resources. I have heard that in general you get a better deal on shipped cages than in store cages. I bought mine online.

It really does feel like they lower it just to spite me!

Seems like it would take a long time to weld a cage and do it properly to prevent sharp points, etc. How much would powder coating a cage cost? Probably a lot.

I cant really respond to what it would cost in the states though.. but I could with the powdercoating using a namebrand powder for aviculture. Weld together three identical cages to the one I've got and leave it off for a sandblasting before the powdercoating for the same price I would buy a new one like the one I have (I bought it second hand tho). But powdercoating is actually surprisingly cheap. I know when I powdercoated my motorcycle frame and wantd it black they pretty much told me that they were running some other things black for a major build and I could borrow their blastingroom and sandblast it and hang it on a hook and if I treated them with some buns and coffee they would do the coating and material for me.

And the materials are actually really cheap so is the sprayguns, the biggest problem is an owen fitting big enough things but an established buisness already ahs these things to be honest, and the skill or time involved in powdercoating is nothing compared to doign wet paint.

When I asked em what they would charge me to powdercoat a cage 4mX2,5m and 2 meters high with 1"spacing and 5mm bars (I know mixing european measurements and inches now) they told me that they would charge about 120USD for this. But he also told me we could do some swapping couse he had a racing helmet he wanted painted... wich would benefit him since he payed me about 200 for the last helmet I painted for him haha.

But yeah would be timeconsuming but costeffeciant, unless shipping something already build of that size from the states to sweden would prove cheaper or close to the same. But I'm a pretty quick welder ;P

Edit: foudn a really similar cage to yours (not the same but same measurements) in a swedish online store, it was 4.000 SEK and that is 609 USD...

And the material costs are basically the same for metall in US as in europe and since there is a profit at 250 you might see why it would be timeconsuming but costefficient to weld your own living here, assuming then your able to produce results and quality of the same kind or better.

Can't hurt to send an email. Petco is a big chain. They might just refund you the difference.
