I don't, but did you see the free bird toy tutorials I posted at the end of the homemade bird toy thread and the thread I created under bird toy DIY about the Christmas toys?

I've decided that I will never pay for a bird toy again. They are extremely overpriced. In the last day, I've made two toys that would probably sell for $10-$20, one for each bird (4 total) and all together they cost me less than a dollar. Not only that, but my birds have shown more interest in them than they normally do store bought toys.

I will find and post the links below.

I don't know if you're familiar with pinterest.com, but if you click of the pin's picture it will take you to a larger picture of the toy. Then click on that larger picture and it will take you to the link that shows you how to make it.

Charlieandkiwi you seriously rock a sock for those links! Ooooh, the ideas buzzing in my head now. Pricey_boy's, too, I'm sure! ^^

I HAS AN IDEA! With the video shared, what do you all think about perhaps using making our parrots a toy for Christmas, and share a photo of the toy here at the parrot forum? It would certainly get fellow parrot lovers in the holiday spirit, even me, who is already sick of the Christmas music and commercials :?

I love your idea so much! Let's do it. I have two really good ideas that I've already made, one of which the birds love, and the other just does it's job, so the birds love it without knowing it.

Let's do it :)

Both http://www.myparrotshop.com and http://www.parrotrescuecentre.com are Australian, with good prices and fast shipping. Both stock toy parts (much cheaper than buying their pre-assembled toys). The rescue has the added bonus of donating a portion of their profits to parrot rescue.

The case of water bottles I buy, wrapped in plastic, has a large cardboard piece on the bottom of it, which has no printing on it at all. (ozarka spring water, 35, 16.9 oz bottles case, I buy at Costco).

Parrot shop had said you can also use plain cardboard which has no printing on it.

Last night I cut this cardboard up, from the water bottles case, when I'd taken out the last bottle, and used a hole puncher to punch holes in the pieces, to string on toys. I also cut two long strips of cardboard, which I'll roll, criss crossing them over eachother, making a hanging foraging toy, sticking treats in it, with that scrunched, colored paper.

Of course I checked visually the cardboard for any dirt or anything that might be on it, to see if it was good and could be used. and smelled the cardboard, to make sure it didn't have any funny smells, like being treated with anything. I thought if in there against water bottles, they're not going to put anything on it, because people will be handling it, and they of course don't want people to get sick. Should be fine.

So think about this, if you buy those cases of water. I use them alot, because my parrot drinks spring water, and I may as well drink it too, therefore, because it's healthier than faucet water these days. So as I finish each case, I'll always have cardboard for making toys, adding to toys.
