Khaiqha, please understand that not everyone keeps animals for the sole reason of personal amusement.

and not everyone keeps their animals in ridiculously expensive and unnecessary conditions, like buying them dog houses with multiple bedrooms, or giving their cat an entire HOUSE as a cat room.

I honestly wouldn't have bothered posting again on this thread if it weren't for the fact that yourargument is getting annoying. and i mean that in the nicest way.

i have multiple pets because half of them were given to me by people who couldn't handle the commitment. the other half were adopted from shelters. i have never bred a pet and only have 1 child. not that i wouldn't have loved to give my son a brother or sister but one is all we can handle for now. if our situation ever changes we will adopt or foster an existing child rather than create another.

What a silly question, I get what you are trying to achieve with it, but at the same time it shows ignorance.

I have two parrots rather than one because I care and love them both. No flock animal should be alone for a lot of time during a day, its in my opinion cruel and can lead to them becoming depressed.
Our first parrot we got because we wanted to, the second because we loved Stitch and didnt want him to spend the hours we work alone. I love both parrots dearly, and want only the best for them, and I am confident that they live a good life with us.

Its the same blummin thing if your talking about bringing more into the world though.... theres too many animals in rescues/being put to sleep/abandoned etc because people keep breeding them...
Theres too many people because people keep breeding and theres not enough of us dying because we keep coming up with ways to defy mother nature......

Why is it that so many "animal lover" forums I sign into have such a large group of people with such a loathing for the human species? It seems rather ridiculous to have such a disregard for the one animal species that we should hold the highest respect for. I love animals and I spend much of my time and effort caring for them; but I care about my own species, our survival and our continued ability to thrive in a manner that is sustainable on this planet. The "child free" crazy pet nazis out there really are hypocrites to wish such destruction on a species of which they are the very part of.
It really isn't so selfish to want to watch out for our own survival above all others, after all that is nature & every other creature on this planet does the same. I may not necessarily be the most "social" human there is, but I still care about the continued survival of my own species... granted I do wish we could do so in such a way that was a little less destructive to the overall planetary ecosystem.
I may not have children, but that is my personal choice which has nothing to do with population control or the environment: I just don't want to change the course of my life & a child would impact that. But hey, if my life were different maybe I'd have a couple... because I'm human, and my nature is to make more humans and fight for their survival.
We are the one species with the ability to change the environment (for worse or better) to improve the lives of not only ourselves, but of the creatures we care about. That to me is truly something to be proud of. Sure, my pets may get more food & make a larger carbon footprint than a child in Ethiopia.. but that is something I can control and choose to provide, because this is where I live and these animals are in my territory. Is it selfish? Sure it is, but that's the beauty of being human: we can be selfish and do things for our own fulfillment.

I understand you Kittyhazelton, and in fact i agree with you.

but there are two ways to look the current state of humanity.

1. we are progressing and evolving technology wise because it is our instinct and we should at least be proud we have the capabilities to do so, and yes, we still have the instinct to make more humans and to protect them like any other animal.

2. because we have these capabilities, as well as our natural instincts, we are trying turn the planet into the "perfect" sanctuary for human kind, by trying to make things easier in our everyday life, there fore leaving nothing left for the other animals we should be SHARING the planet with. instead we in slave them and wipe them out because they are a "nuisance" or they are "trying to come into my yard because i cut down their home".

personally, i would prefer to live in natural wild where I think we belong.

i don't loath humans, i just think we need to stop and consider what we are doing to the planet, and quit trying to make everything about us.

that's just my opinion, and i really do respect your's and everyone else's who may think differently.
