No name yet, think that'll prolly be sorted once I get the answer on the DNA test.... Way to blow 25bucks... Poke your little friend with a sharp object... Anyways... The harness training... Wouldn't really call it training since it was as simple as putting it on and go out.. Only training really is getting her to learn how far away she's able to get while in a harness.

Today we were out for quite a bit and she got to meet n greet with quite a few people and happily jumped onto anyone saying "want to step up?" Even if their hands were far enough for her to having to fly to reach the new hand... So yeah I'd say she's a sweetheart, atleast so far and ill try continue socializing her to be able to bring her without any problems.

And yeah I say "her" and "she" all the time couse I think it's a she... But hey only the DNA will tell for sure... And if it turns out to be a male... Well that'll take some time to get used to.

Just figured I havn't updated on Gender etcetera and I actually just now like five minutes ago got some more updates. Anyways the DNA test turned out to be male (has known this for about a week) so it is a little boy I have living here, even if I originally thought it to be a girl. But today I decided to send an email to the "ringmaster" to see when his legband was sold since I know the legband cant be sold after he hatched pretty much since it is a rightsized closed ring so it had to be put on really short after hatching. I also today sent an email to a mailadress to someone listed as breeder of brownheaded parrots I found at one of the birdclubs, this was in order to see if she had a suitable friend for him but I decided to send the ringnumber to her to see if this was one of hers. And it was! now the ring was sold in 2005 so I would have known the bird wasnt older than 8yo, but since I actually got hold of the breeder she could tell me he was hatched in februari -07 so he just about now is turning 6. She also sent over some notes she had done from the time he was still with her (he was lonely left in his clutch for some time) so she had notes on when he liked to be with them when not preferences for bathing etcetera, now this was some time ago but still fun to find out where he is from and them little small notes was fun to see how much has sticked with him ectetera. she also had some info regarding owners, he was first sold to a man living upnorth then he went to a woman, now I know the person who passed was a male and I know she was with a family before moving here.. so this poor little fella has had atleast five homes (including me) in his so far short life... but still has managed to remain as tame and sweet as he is.

So basic update I know gender: MALE and age: 6

What a happy tale, that he has found his way to such a good home & that you've found yourself such a little sweetheart. He's adorable! And amazing that he took to the harness like that. I wish he'd have a word with my 'tiel who's not having any of it. Look forward to hearing what you call him.

How about Aron or Beck as names?

it has been so nice hearing about your newest birdie. he sure is lucky to have you as a parront!
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

Now you have a little poi in your life! He's adorable! I can't wait to hear stories. I am so tempted to DNA test my little feathery friends but then I don't know what I'd do about their names if I'm wrong :/

I think knowing the sex for definate is always a good thing, in my mind if their ever sick and the symptoms are similar to egg binding for example you can automatically rule that out if you have a male :)
We thought Harley was a male to start with but ended up just changing the spelling to look more feminine. I think the names yours have sounds pretty unisex anyway :)

I agree it would be a good idea... I just haven't made the time to find a good place to go and I don't want to do it myself.

I was looked around for cool sounding names and found: Taku, Talos, and Rikin

If I have children for some reason, they're going to have unusual names.

The way you would say it sounding english sounds quite different from the swedish (especially the vowel sounds) so some of the names sounding cool in "english" doesnt sound all that kewl in swedish unfortunitly :) But I am pretty sure I'll find something out :)

The DNA testing isn't all that hard TBH and we now got someone working with it joining the forum that may be able to advise you on where to go or how todo. I did it together with a friend that has done it "a few" times before, but looking through the webpage linked by this new user I can't remember the name of (sorry) we actually didnt end up doing it like that. but we actually puncturd a toe to get the blood, but he didnt flinch or anything so I don't think he was traumatized by it (he reacts more when you cut his nails and even then he doesnt react much).

But yeah it is somewhat usefull to know the gender of the bird when it comes to calcification and egg issued sympthoms... other than that it is quite a fun guessing game trying to guess the gender based on looks/behavior and see if you actually was right. And regarding the names... well the bird doesn't know if he/she has a male or female name... I find the hard part is to get used to not using she/her/hers etcetera (since I thought it to be a girl I have been using female pronouns...) getting used to start saying he/his/him is quite hard... :)
