Don't laugh lol she likes ground pork and would eat it if I let her.
Chicken and salmon goes down too---she loves them.
Eggs? Yup.

Right now, I'm getting the 'wait---you want me to eat BUGS? Where IS my chicken and wildcaught salmon at?' face

Eh I'm predominately vegetarian, although I'd like to be stricter.

Tiki eats what I eat, so... it's the same with her. She loves salmon!

hi
i was vegetarian for twelve years but for part of that time i ate fish and eggs so i would not be considered fully vegitarian. My reason for being vegitarian was that i did not feel able kill anything myself or even accept fully what it was i was eating.

My friends where all vegetarian at the time also no one wanted me to be vegitarian, in my family so i had quite a hard time assserting myself before this point untill age 12 i was a ravid carnivore with a liking for lamb and chickebn and beef and then i realised i could not cope well with where meat came from, moreover, i felt uncomfortable with certain farming practices.

However now i eat meat again for medical reasons as with out this protien find it hard to maintain the mustles in my legs while only eating eggs and bean nut based protien but i am not as carniverous as i once was i have given small pieces of bioled cheen to my parrot and also bone marrow from chicken bones to her on the advice of a vet.

Michael wrote:I wonder how many of you bird lovers don't eat bird? What about those of you who do eat Chicken, Turkey, Duck, Pigeon, Pheasant, Ptarmigan, etc... how do you feel about eating something that tastes a lot like your pet? I'm not trying to be facetious, I really am just curious about how people feel about all this.

I admit that I eat chicken, duck and turkey without thinking twice, although I eat duck far less often, due to its high, high fat content. I don't even think that chicken, duck or turkey would taste the least bit like my African Grey Parrot, or vice versa. Since this is a crazy question, I didn't submit a vote at the poll at the beginning of this topic.

cmaygar wrote:I selected #1 because there was no other option, however, I doubt that my parrots would taste like a chicken, cornish hen, turkey or duck. Neither chicken, turkey or duck taste alike, so how in the world could a rather small bird like most parrots taste like poultry when poultry have been raised to maximize the production of meat and fat for human consumption?

I love my parrots and I think that parrots make great human companions, but I don't believe that I'm committing some sort of inhumane act by consuming poultry.

Right on cmaygar! Well said. Thanks.

I live on chicken....though I only buy free range chicken & eggs....and I love duck and goose. Ideally I think I'd be vegetarian but I'm a coeliac and that causes enough dietary restrictions and difficulties for one lifetime, or at least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

im surely a nonvegetarian but only for chicken, goat, sometimes fish. because they are in excess. and if we don't eat them, they will eat all grass, plants, and other animals. i think that's why tigers, lions extra, eat them since people or animals eating only grass and plants for health is not so good. this may result deforestation just by human population. this is my think... confused ???? if u understood, u will not eat a parrot. !!!! cause we always go practicals. this is human minds. never mind :)
