what this means is we do not eat meat at home, we do not buy it in any form or cook it, but we do eat a lot of animal products (eggs, milk, cheese) because this is how we mainly replace the missing protein, along with beans and sprouts and stuff... etc etc.
we cook a lot of mediterranean and asian foods so even in recipes without meat there is always some kind of animal protein.
However, flexitarian means that on occasion when out if we "have to" we would order meat. Meaning if we are invited out to dinner, to a restaurant or someone's house, even though everyone knows we do not eat meat and try hard, sometimes they do wanna go to a steak house and then we would eat it. Yes, it does taste ok, we always make sure to order the best quality meat possible, at a higher cost obviously, and it is important that we abstract from visualizing where the meat comes from.
Besides, it's been 2 years we are off meat most of the time, so if we DO go to a damn steak house we can't even digest it afterwards! Oh my god, our stomachs are in sooooo much paiiiin!!!
Thus we go very rarely out to meaty restaurants....
