if he is thinking the bowls are a potential nest site try putting a smaller metal bowl inside the larger one. As much as I like the montana cages the bowls are huge even in cages designed for smaller birds. We have one waiting for Harlie to be ready for a larger cage.

He just plays and forages. I've ordered new bowls but he seems to do it with everything at the moment so maybe he is nesting (I have to stress he's definitely MALE). He nested in my socks, my cushions and my robe. He is hormonal at the moment. New bowls should arrive soon.

Problem is they won't fit in the cage fixtures and will be separate. When the bowls aren't there he likes doing somersaults swinging around the bowl fitting! Most amusing... until he very occasionally falls out of his acrobatics and shouts "MUM MUM!" when he finds himself on the floor of his cage.

Thats the other thing I hate that you cant remove those darn hopp fittings meaning if I do move harlie in there one day I will have to use the bowl inside a bowl or some other trick otherwise she will break her neck on them.
Harlies starting with the hormones too, or she was before she stopped eating properly. Ollies just come out of hormonal mode.

Yeah, they are still nice cages though. Can always put the bowls in with nothing in them. I'll see what vet says tomorrow.

Its the growling though. Totally freaked me out, sounds like a roosting chicken! That deep low bbwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaa. It's attention based thing though because he won't do it when we in the room. I asked about it when I booked the appointment and the vet was like 'hormones... definitely hormones' but he'll have a full MOT tomorrow.

Also my boyfriend says he's heard 'swishing' at night sometimes. Seems he's developed a sense of shame with his masturbation... finally. It's not too often maybe 1-2 times this month so not out of control. Again will mention to the vet tomorrow.
