Do you feed your birds sprouts?

Do any of you guys feed your birds sprouts?
If so, do you sprout the seeds/beans yourself?

You really want to make that hundredth post don't you?

I don't really know much about sprouts so I've never fed them. I don't really eat vegetables, I'm a sort of cheating meatetarian

So the veggies I buy are exclusively for my birds. I don't even touch them.

Maybe I am..or maybe I'm asking questions as they pop up in an effort to have conversation ;)

I feed sprouts. I sprout my own stuff.
I've bought a mix from one of my favorite bird stores, which in turns gets them in bulk from a health food store I believe.

Fairly easy; soak bean/seed mix overnight then drain. Keep in a dark area and well ventilated (I have a special container for this). Rinse out the mix every so often.
Eventually the growth will appear. I let mine grow a bit then I put in the fridge to keep them longer, not that they last because my birds LOVE them.

I sometimes rinse with apple cider vinegar and then water to kill any possible bacteria.

Sprouts is a good question.

I feed sprouts. I get them from China Prairie. http://www.chinaprairie.com/

It's an easy process. Soak overnight, let the sprouts sit upside down and drain for two days, then feed.

I started feeding sprouts probably a decade ago when my cockatiel hen came down with fatty liver disease. I was feeding her bird bread and I believe I put too much oil in it. I also lost my cockatiel male when he was 10 because his kidney's shut down. My vet thought it was due to the pellets which had too many vitamins and minerals added to them. I did some research and decided sprouts were a nice compromise between seeds and pellets. They are basically live seeds which is the most nutritional food you can eat.

My birds love sprouts too! I've never heard of rinsing them with vinegar though. Sounds like a good idea but do the birds like the taste?

Caution !

Too much vinegar can cause the bird to get disease ( dont know what disease ) but will ..

so try not to put too much just in case .

correct ?

I sprout seeds for my birds, and they love it. its really easy to do, and is especially helpful if breeding parrots, as it is an awesome source of nutrition, and is very easy to digest, and regurgitate. this is a link to a youtube video i made on how i sprout my bird seed:

also, i have another video on growing birdy grass which can be seen here:

i also have other videos on "playful food for parrots" if people are interested in other things they can do to make their parrots diets fun and varied.
parrots arent mere ornaments, and they're hardly "just a pet" they are intelligent and emotional creatures who want our companionship. As a bird owner, its a pleasure to make my parrots lives as happy, enriched and healthy as possible

Not yet, but i think, now that I know how easy it is, I will try. I reckon Ladu will like them due to the fact that the texture is like cooked quinoea (he LOVES quinoa  ).
