Hi everyone,
So Edmund had his vet check yesterday and the avian vet was very impressed! He said he's in excellent condition and is a very muscular cockatiel. He did muscle tests on Edmund and he said while Edmund is a little on the lighter side (85g) its because he is extremely lean and muscular. He said it shows that Edmund has a lot of flying time!
I was worried as Edmund has always been quite light but he said that Platinum (like Edmund) or Lutino mutations tend to be on the lighter end of the scale and Edmund is just like an athlete cockatiel! He said he's still one of the healthiest cockatiels he has seen.
The only thing he recommended was trying to increase to 50% pellet diet now he will nibble and to try mixing in some Harrison's high potency because he is just so active. Just as a precaution as he is having his first molt but I'm glad our baby is doing well.
He sang profusely to the vet and flirted with the nurse who melted over him... he kept wandering up and asking for scratches from her and opening his wings and making kissing noises at her. He had his nails blunted slightly (tips made less sharp by just trimming the very end off). They were getting a bit out of hand because he was getting them caught on the vets lab coat so he thought it was best so he doesn't get stuck somehwere and rip a nail out.
