) hi all,i am new to keeping lorikeets,i have one pair of swainsons,to all you keepers ,how thick or runny do you do your wet mix,also how much fruit and veg do you give,as i dont want to under feed them,i use a stainless steel size medium bowl for there wet mix and same again for there fruit and usually by the end of the day its all gone,is this enough ?there bright ,active and seem happy,many thanks tim

Hello Tim,

Congrats on your new lorikeet. When it comes to feeding your lorikeet, refer to the instructions on the package, this should give you the right consistency. However, I recommend you use dry mix, as wet mix tends to spoil during the day. Another tip, do not immediately alter your lorikeet's diet, as this could cause problems.

I would feed as much fruit as your lorikeet needs ( which is usually more than other parrots, as they have a nectar-based diet). When changing your lorikeet's food, check the bowl where you place your fruits. There should be a little remainder of fruits, as many owners make the mistake of giving more food than their parrot needs.

Basically if the food is all gone then it is not enough and needs to be increased until there is a little bit left.
