I don't see why not providing it's only one or two and not everyday... I may stand corrected though!

I give my birds Power Treats for the red palm fruit oil. The bag says:

• feed 1 piece Power Treats per 3 pieces of Coarse Ground Formula
• may make up to 30% of diet

• Small birds: 1/8 - 1 1/2 piece per day
• Medium birds: 3 pieces per day
• Large birds: 9 pieces per day

My Poi gets 6 pieces of Adult Lifetime Course so I give him 2 Power Treats whereas my GCC (who is smaller and is on the Fine) gets 1.

If you do trick training you can use it as a treat during training (you can crush it up into smaller pieces with a spoon).

Yes, it does contain unrefined cane sugar but that's why it's a treat and should be fed in small amounts (and the same goes for things that naturally contain sugar such as fruit).

Probably "small" since "medium" would be Amazon/African Grey and "large" would be cockatoo/macaw.

How many pieces of Adult Lifetime Coarse do you feed her? You can just base it on that. My Poi ("small") gets 2 Power Treats per day since he gets 6 - 8 pieces of Adult Lifetime Coarse.

thanks andromeda
i have adult lifetime fine in at the moment, because i baught too much of it in advance. I PLAN TO SWITCH HER OVER IN A week or so when she will be nearing the tail end of the adult lifetime fine i spoke to a vet from viovet and he said for the moment to use high potency rather than power treats because of the molt i have been suplimenting my birds lifetime harrisons with more beans vetables and egg yoke boilled (only very small amount, plus a tuny piace of boild chicken little pieces of walnut and almonds to give her more protien i know animal protiens as a suplinent are not recomended with harrisons so ill try to give her more sprouted beans and grains i am keeping a close eye on her and offering her more variety of natural food Trying to account for her current specal needs, naturaly.

its not ideal i know but its something i wanted to try its good to not depend totaly on the harrisons anyway in terms of variety i am keeping a close eye on her weight and behviour.

if i use poer treats ill get some aduct life time course for her. Thnankyou for the infomation

You can feed Power Treats with the Fine or Coarse or the High Potency or any other diet, Harrison's or otherwise. My birds eat Adult Lifetime now but years ago when they were on High Potency they still got Power Treats, too.

Also my conure eats the Fine and I give him 1 Power Treat every day, so you don't have to wait until you get the Coarse or even use the Coarse at all if you think your bird prefers the smaller pellets.

If she is molting now that's a great time to give the Power Treats as red palm fruit oil helps a lot with feather condition. Since she is a small bird try giving her 1 - 2 per day. I give my Poi 2 per day and his weight is around that of a Ringneck. :-)

thanks for the imput andromeda,

it can be abit tricky feeding my bird as she likes variety but i like to prevent too much selective feeding and shes six years old now roughly as my friend says he got her in 2008 but i think it was 2007 so we have abit of debate there.

my own vet is always really vague on how she should be fed which is fustrating he just said give her chen bones that have been boiled so that she can eat the bone marrow. My dad said he'll bing me some chicken bones left over from his stew so i can use those if i boil them to make sure they are clean i'll put c,s e in the water.

its also tricky as i live alone so i have to talior what i am eating to what she can eat too.

Do you vever use powdered multivitamin suppliments if you feed a high preportion of fresh food?

thanks your your help
