Fruit Seeds/Pits

Postby KimberlyAnn » Wed May 22, 2013 10:48 pm

I've heard two things.

1) Remove all pits and seeds from all fruit.

2) Only remove pits and seeds that are not safe for humans to eat.

So which is true? Can I leave in Kiwi and Guava seeds? Or do I have to slowly puck them out? Lol

I've heard its peach, nectarine, plum and the like pits as well as cherry pips and apple pips because they contain natural toxic poisons like a cynanide I believe. I think seeds in strawberries and kiwi are ok. They both give my birds the squits so I onlt feed in very small bites and very scarce.

I've heard tomatoes are toxic all over, some say just the seeds, some just the plants itself so I've stayed away from those all together and cucumbers aren't greatly nutritious so I don't feed it either.
