Bread machines are relatively inexpensive (you don't need the fancy ones that do all kinds of other things like pasta and such) and they are super useful when you have parrots.

Next time try not to use so much protein stuff (seeds, nuts, peanut butter, eggs), use oatmeal as a base, instead -oats are great for birds because they promote the release and storage of serotonin, the happy hormone, in their brain.

my conures, I feed them in a couple different ways, they have their "regular/dry" bowl , their fresh dish & then foraging foods which are in different places & in toys. dry bowl mix ~ Australian mix, conure mix, vegie delite, fruits + nutmeats, ( All GoldenFeast brand -all nautral ,no dyes , preservatives= wicked GOOD brand) they so many different mixes,I just put down some that I just used or always "fall back on" .
fresh dish is different every day, mabey a fresh vegie mix,i.e. carrots, sweet potatoes ,green beans...or Mango, coconut, strawberries,rasberries,blueberries,....Foraging corn on the cobb, collard greens, cinnimin sticks, whole star anise seed, almonds, walnuts & pistachios are favorites. also flowers, hibiscus, lilac, dandelion. (waiting on rose buds, african daisys to come up :D )
well that's a good starter...what I didn't list it's probly b/c it's in the GOLDENFEAST mixes, or i'm not writing forever about every little thing I give 'em~lol they do get a lot of different foods, fresh, dehydrated, freez dried. I do not give pellets.

I used a wholegrain mix as a base that has oat, wheat and stuff like that :] The eggs and peanut butter was mostly to make it stick together, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice :]

Also, today he finally took a bite out of the corn on the cob for the first time. I've hung a piece on his cage for him, but he's just been eyeing it suspiciously up until now. He's gnawing on it as I type and I think it's a definite winner now that he's finally warmed up to it :D So thanks to everyone who suggested it! Next we'll be moving on to the raw coconut on the shell, wonder how long it will take before he'll approach that one :P

Also I found out that he really enjoys sprouts - I bought some sunflower sprouts at the store, figuring that if he likes sunflower seeds he may like the sprouts as well, and I was right.
I used to work in a zoo and all our birds, from parrots to pidgeons and budgies, ate sprouts. We had a mix that we'd let sit in water over night and they would sprout, but I have no idea where the zoo bought it from. It seems more expensive having to buy finished sprouts from the grocery store (like I did with the sunflower sprouts) rather than getting a mix and "growing" them yourself.
Does anyone else feed their birds sprouts, and if so what types? I'd like to ask where you get them from, but chances are it differs greatly from country to country :P

I haven't had the guts to feed Elliot mango yet, since I've been researching suggested fruits and mango didn't pop up once so I've assumed it's not good for the bird. I've wanted to give it to him since I've had it at home several times, but I haven't dared before. You're the first one mentioning it, I think, so I guess it's not up on the banned-list along with avocado like I feared it was :D
And flowers, thanks for the suggestion! My lawn is overgrown with dandelions so I'd be delighted to put them to some good use. Do you feed the flower only, or the leaves as well?

Nope, particularly the cheaper ones. They use iron or stainless steel which you have to grease with butter to be non stick... you can also use plain flavourless oil or none at really. Only the fancy ones have non-stick

The 'pan' in mine (is not really a baking pan, it's more like a little bucket) is made of steel but even if it was coated in a non-stick material like Teflon or whatever, my birds are in the birdroom on a different floor so the fumes would never reach them. Besides, Teflon only emits those toxic fumes when you heat the material above a certain temperature (Teflon particulates at 464°F and, at 680°F releases the toxic gases), which doesn't apply to baking (done at 325 to 350 F). The problem is when you put it on top of the stove (like a frying pan, for example) because it heats up very quickly and at very high temperatures.

SUNFLOWER SEEDS - OH YES. She loves to omnom them but I only give them during trainings. I think she wouldn't stop eating them, given the chance!

BERRIES. She ravenously eats wild huckleberries, blackberries, as well as salmonberries and raspberries - we have a raspberry bush in my garden and wild salmonberries grow near my home. Salmonberries are in the same family as raspberries. The taste isn't as flavorful as raspberries, though... they can be tart. Nonetheless she loves them and prefers the salmonberries over the raspberries. Surprisingly she doesn't really like strawberries, though -she'll take a bite and that's it.

NUTS - at the risk of sounding really groan-inducing, she's NUTS about NUTS lol

The young greens of Dandelion is a good source of vitamin A. The older leaves of the plant can taste bitter, though. Better plucked when young. Dandelion can resemble other plants so it's very important to identify correctly. Remember that Dandelions have no branches or central stalk and the leaves are not fuzzy.

Gylfie is in love with dried blueberries (no sulfites no added sugar). Maybe tied with walnuts, if not a runner-up? She also will do tricks for nutriberries, all kinds of nuts, sprouts, all beans, tofu, RICE XD. Of course she is insane about seeds and millet, but those aren't given to her very often.
