Corn?

I garden so I feed my parrot organic foods, but I'm not growing any corn this year. We bought some corn on the cob today and cooked it, but it's not organic. Can my parrot eat it? Or should any vegetable fed to a parrot need to be organic only?

I think organic and eco-friendly is the way to go, for humans as well as parrots but some veggies are worse than others if not organic.

Cant tell you if it applies to corn, but personally, if at all possible, I go with the organic option.

No, corn can be regular. Whether a fruit or veggie needs to be organic is a matter of the amount/type of insectidice/fungicide they spray (regular apples in the States have more than 30 different chemicals on them), when they spray it (like if it's sprayed before the plant bears fruit or after) and the thickness of the skin (because heavily sprayed fruits that have thin skin would have absorbed the chemicals into the 'meat' of the fruit).

But corn has a nice, thick and quite impermeable covering (those very nice husks) so you can feed regular.

But for corn, i would go organic to be on the safe side. With gmos and pesticides and whatnot, corn can be loaded with bad stuff. Gmo corn is practically flooded with pesticides (which is where water pollution happens from runoff , so i only feed my plet organic corn

Really, the more you read or educate yourself on the subject, the more you will realise that organic food is the way to go. Its scary with normal stuff.

I was very much against organic a while back, thinking it was way to costly. After educating myself though, I feel I wouldnt want to pay the price of not eating organic. Most of my grocery shopping is organic nowadays, when there is an organic option I go with it.

Yes its a little bit more expensive, but not as much as you'd think. And personally, its something I will gladly pay, for both myself and my parrots.

Like I said I garden my own veggies, fruits and herbs so it's not like I love GMO/Monsanto, lol.

I think garden grown is even better than organic, imo, not to mention growing your own food is like putting money in your bank. ^^ This was local corn and my spouse bought it, so we just weren't sure. We ate it though, it was tasty, but we probably won't buy/eat regular corn ever again, even if it's locally grown.

Oh no worries; my reply wasn't directed towards you, either.

I just fed my bird some peas from the garden, and when you feed garden grown/organic it's true -- there's never a worry about pesticides that could hurt your bird.

I hope i didn't sound like i was pointing you out earlier sorry if i did. It's just so scary what goes into a lot of food nowadays
