Swollen Eye Socket

Hi,
My male plum-head parakeet 'billy' is facing a problem since last couple of days, i've noticed that his both eye sockets are swollen. what might be the problem? what first-aid should i do? please suggest :(

Please see a vet, it sounds like an infection or mites. do not self treat as there is too much that can go wrong and over the counter antibiotic drops don't tend to work.

I second Marie, don't wait around looking for a remedial measure. You need to see an Avian vet, anything you attempt yourself could make the problem worse.

No, not mites but definitely an infection, please take to the vet immediately.

Only reason I suggested mites was because I assume the op means the rim or skin around the eye since we cannot see the socket itself.

Well, the only mites that affect the face are the scaly mites and, although they do affect the eyes the first 'funky' looking symptoms are always around the beak (usually the cere) because what they are attracted to mostly is keratin. And they don't really cause inflammation until it's severe, they start with scales and powdery discharge from the affected area.
