Training diet for baby

Postby AmberH » Mon Aug 26, 2013 12:40 pm

I am bringing home my new baby Eclectus in 3 weeks he will be 12 weeks old by then. I dont plan to do pellets and seeds I will be doing only fresh fruits and veggies.

I have read so much conflicting info I am totally confused right now and wanted some advice from everyone.

I have read that baby's just weaned should have plenty of food because they are growing, is this true or do I risk making him fat?
How does everyone determine how much to feed?
I plan to get a scale to monitor weight but how do I know how much to actually put in the bowl each time?

I have done a ton of research on the training diet but have not read at what age to start a training diet. At what age is the training diet safe or is it ok right up front?

Thanks

Perfect thanks for sharing I was sure you had something out there but when I tried searching the forum I had no luck.

I am pouring through the blogs now I am on a roll!!

I am both very excited and extremely terrified of bringing my bird home. I have had nightmares that it hated me and awesome dreams were I was at the park with my bird and everyone was so impressed with him.

Just be aware there will be a conversion period and you will need to montior weight if you are planning on changing diet.

And remember that ekkies have a very specialized diet in the wild which has little protein and lots of fiber so no pellets for them.
