please help im panicing

Postby lianne » Tue Sep 10, 2013 11:14 am

I just found one of my lovebirds with its foot stuck in some thread on a curtain and it took me ages to get it out now I am panicing because on the right foot, the first claw (the really long one) is facing the wrong way, it has bent to the side and is very noticeable, my bird doesn't seem in pain from what I can tell and is moving around (I have put them back in the cage) but im reallypanicing about its foot, well it is the one claw, its too late to go to a vets should I be doing anything right now? xxx lianne xxx

I managed to see a vet right away and she will be ok, he trimmed the claw and I had to go back for a second time as it began bleeding a lot but we are home again and quiet and I am keeping an eye on Eva, Teddy was worried about her, she was sitting quietly with her leg up while he had his face nuzzled in her neck singing to her...I am still worried but the vet said she should be fine xxx

Sorry I wasn't here to answer you. Yes, she will be fine. The only danger is when they break the leg bone because, even though one would not want anything to happen to them (of course!), they can loose a couple of toes and still do fine.
