Crop on side up behind neck?

Postby whorneff310 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 2:19 pm

Hello I just purchased an 8 week baby african grey. She is doing well but I was concerned about this area behind her neck. As you can see from the below pictures it fills up when we feed her and seems to be part of her crop. I wanted to see if anyone has seen this before. I thought the crop was only below. Also I was concerned about the lack of feathers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a punctured air-sac but it's hard to tell from the picture because I can't really tell exactly where it is (it's too close).

Do you realize you bought an unweaned baby?

No I didn't realize. Can you give me any advice? What are the implications?

By not weaned you meant how I have to use the baby formula and hand feed her. Yes I'm completely aware of that and the hand feeding has been going fine. I'm just concerned about how her crop expands over her back

I might take care of itself but then it might not, so, if I were you, I would take that bird to an AV. Better safe than sorry.
