New Budgie Eating A Lot

Postby SparkLeAnn » Tue Jan 28, 2014 8:54 pm

Hi I just got a new budgie today. I'm a little worried because he is eating a lot and slightly fluffed up. I'm probably over reacting, but I'm just really worried. I don't want the budgie I have know to get an illness from him. Thank You.

He's a baby and babies eat a lot. Give him soft foods, two different kinds as well as greens, a good quality seed mix and some veggies/fruits (they like them better when they are chopped up).

First off if your new bird isnt in quarantine then he should be for a minimum of 30 days. This needs to be a separate room from the one you already have, separate dishes, toys etc whilst being careful to keep you hands washed and ideally wear different clothes when looking after each bird.

Its a good sign your new one is eating well, I would expect a new bird to be stressed on the first few days, being a bit fluffed up can be a sign of this so unless there is anything else thats making you unsure of his health I wouldnt worry at this stage.
