Senegal still ill?!

Postby JaydeParrot » Thu Apr 03, 2014 3:36 pm

In an earlier post today I explained how I'd thought I'd cured my bird's sudden illness, however I notice now that he seemed to have a slightly swelled crop. I also remember that about 5 or 6 days ago I showed him my necklace made up of children's plastic beads. He suddenly grabbed a bead and smashed it with his beak I was sat on the sofa so all the pieces went into the sofa and were impossible to find, I wonder whether Hide could have accidently swallowed a piece, which could have caused his crop to swell slightly?

Yes, he could have so please take him to an avian vet for a check-up and Xray. Plastic can cause an impacted crop.

He was ill on Wednesday and 'may' have swallowed an increadibly small amount of plastic on a Thursday or Friday, could it have taken that long for the plastic to affect him? Also the piece he would have swallowed would have been as big or smaller than this 'e', could that really block him?

Stranger things have occurred! You may not be so lucky next time. I have also read your other post concerning this incident and I also have to go a long way to get to a vet but, I guess it all comes down to the value you place on your birds and what they contribute to your life.
