I have had him since he was a baby ( a few weeks old). He is 10 years old now and he has been healthy his whole life. For a few days now he has been very sick. He is shaking and his feathers look puffy and his eyes are closed most of the day. Also when I come near him I can hear him breathing. It sounds like someone who has a stuffy nose. Two days ago he had a long dried bugger looking thing on his peak. Also he wants more attention than usual. He is eating and drinking a lot of water normally but he looks very ill. Does anyone know what it could possibly be? Is it a cold? How long till he gets better? Does he need antibiotics?
Again- this bird needs a vet urgently. Let us know what your avian vet says please and update us on your birds condition. It sounds like a respiratory infection which are deadly if left untreated.
Oh, my goodness! That bird is VERY sick, my dear, VERY VERY sick! Take him in right now as an emergency case. Parrots don't get common colds that get better on their own like we do and, when they get a respiratory infection (like yours has), if it goes untreated for days, they die!
