I would not trust in the overall quality of wild bird seed. I know that it usually has a large amount of black oil sunflower seed as opposed to the higher quality grey striped sunflower seed, which is also lower in the amount of fat. But I would think that if one removed the black oil sunflower seeds from the mix that it could be feed to a parrot, if one trusted in the quality on the rest of the seed mix, which I don't. So with all this in mind, I would probably not feed my parrots this mix.

Ditto and it's not only the black oil sunflower seeds and lower overall quality, it's also that it's a high volume item and tends to stay on the shelves for longer periods of time than the 'pet' quality seed mixes (not that I trust those, either -I buy my seed directly from the manufacturer and in small quantities which is a pain in the neck because I end up going twice a month but it gives me peace of mind). Put it outside for the wildlife. I collect all the 'used' seed from my birds, add some wild bird seed mix and put it outside for what my husband calls my 'customers' (mourning doves, pigeons, sparrows and starlings as well as two squirrels that all wait for me to come out in the am and put it out -LOL- I also have a raccoon and a couple of opossums that eat what the feral cats leave)
