my conure is trained not to poop on me, but is not trained to poop in a spacific place.
my cockatoo is litter box trained. (her old owners taught her this)
anyway, just pick a place you want it to go, stay there until it poops, and greatly reward it when it does.
do this many times.
good luck, as i know how stubborn conures can be at times.

Poop training can be detrimental towards the parrots health and cause problems as the parrot will try to keep the poop in, which is not natural for them.

I suggest a soft timing based approach to encourage the bird to poop in suitable places and for the human to give frequent opportunities.

Welcome to the world of parrots! This is a normal part of having a bird. Yes, they poop a lot, on the average of about every 10 minutes or so. If you can remember this, then every 10 min. or so place the bird on its cage or in some other place where it is safe for it to poop and give it a minute or so to take care of this need, then continue to enjoy your bird. Most birds will also turn and try to place themselves so as to not poop on that which they are standing on. they try to let it drop to the ground instead of where they have to step in it. Watch for them to do this and if you act calmly and quickly you can help it to poop where you would prefer it to.

I do not agree with training a bird to poop anywhere. I don't care what kind of training it is, it doesn't matter, it's just too risky. Birds have high metabolisms so they need to poop often and, when you train a bird to poop only in certain places, you are making the bird hold it, something that is completely unhealthy for them. You housebreak a dog but you don't housebreak a bird.

so how do you deal with the potty issue? train them to not go on you, but anywhere else?

I don't 'deal' with it, they poop on me all the time. I just have a separate shelf in my closet where I have all my 'bird' clothes (they not only poop on me, they also chew holes in my clothes all the time). Everybody likes birds but birds are not for everybody. Keeping them healthy, free of stress and content requires A LOT of changes in one's lifestyle because one cannot expect them to adjust to a human environment or convenience, we are the ones that have to make the adjustments because these are undomesticated species which have very specific physiological and emotional needs identical to the birds' out in the wild. It's not easy keeping birds the right way. Not easy at all. It requires HUGE sacrifices on our part.

my mom has a jacket she wears,so delight will go on it.
delight will poop on everyone but me. it could be because he is scared of the wipes i use to clean it up.
he just gets on my arm, and poops off of it when he has to go. is this that bad of a system?
also, lily refuses to poop anywhere but her special spot, and has been that way since we got her.
it might be a trained behavior, or it might be natural. she usually flies to her cage to poop.

I don't try to potty train my birds at all, but I do keep a roll of toilet paper handy 'cause I am always cleaning up poop. Mostly on the floor, but some on me.
